Late in 2009 I won a place at the Internationally acclaimed L’ecole Nationale d’equitation. I gained one of only 5 places available on the prestigious course. As part of the selection process applicants were requested to provide a DVD of their riding, attend an interview, and present to the board their achievements so far, plus goals and aspirations for the future.
I was lucky enough to be awarded a place and took with me our homebred Gelding, Fabritzio who already worked up to novice level, and had competed in young horse classes.
All training and exams, both practical and theoretical were conducted in French, and training was completed alongside past and present French Olympic Medallists.
The methods and training techniques of the Cadre Noir Masters falls in line with my own beliefs of sympathetic classical training, a comprehensive understanding of the equine anatomy in order to concentrate on forward straight and calm movements, with looseness within the back of upper most importance.
